25: Dave is racing behind a a Cinzano truck on the freeway. The driver holds 5 fingers, meaning Dave's bike is going 50 mph. Soon, the driver holds up 6 fingers. The birth of something new.
45: College students are told they must allow a team from the town to enter a bike race called Little 500. "But sir, they are not good enough." At the water hole Dave, Mike, Cyril and Moocher argue amongst themselves about whether they should enter the Little 500. Now that I'm aware.
60: Dave's dad is ill so he tells his mom he's not going to race in regional bike race the Cinzano team will enter. Evelyn Stoller tells her son she has always carried a passport in her purse. She encourages her son to win and do all the things he wants to do now while he can. He decides to race and later the Cinzano team treats him roughly. There's no going back now.
-45: Dave's dad Raymond Stoller arrives at a stone cutting factory and says hello and does a little work with a hammer on a block of stone. Later he and his wife talk about their son's future. Dave works all day at the car lot and is exhausted. His father tells him to get used to it. Discovery.
-25: Dave and Raymond talk about identity. "You're not a cutter, I'm a cutter." The four friends examine the bike they will ride in the Little 500. It's in poor shape. They argue again about whether they should race. "Maybe those guys are better than us." Dave takes the bike and works on it to improve it. Eventually, that bike is ridden by the four friends and they win the race. The final turning point.
